Bragg Creek Scarecrow Festival 2014

The second annual Scarecrow Festival is underway. During the month of October scarecrows will pop up all around the Greater Bragg Creek area. You can get voting forms at My Favourite Store. Voting ends at 6 PM, Friday, October 24. More info is available on the Festival Facebook page.

The ballots are in and the winners in seven categories announced.

Best "human" scarecrow

2nd. Shell's super-hero, High Octane!

Best animal scarecrow
1st. Belcourt Groomers' Pretty poodle!
2nd. Greater BC Trails Map moose!

Best multiple character display
1st. Eagle Engineering's museum exhibits!
2nd. Creekers' "homeless" group!

Cutest scarecrow
1st. The Tin Lady on White Ave. (beside Scoops & Snacks)!
2nd. "Olive" at BC Oil & Vinegar!

Scariest scarecrow
1st. The Bale Rider!
2nd. Archer's Antiques!

Best celebrity look-alike
1st. "Miley" at Eagle Engineering!
2nd. Creekside Country Store (looks like Jimmy Durante according to a Red Hatter group that voted)

Best overall scarecrow(s)
1st. Charlie and Dexter (man walking dog) on front lawn of mall by Connie Cockshut!
2nd. Bale Rider! (By mystery people who rock!)


Residents of West Bragg Creek built scarecrows designed to draw attention to the reduced speed zone approaching Kananaskis. They have been installed west of Range Road 54. As they were outside of the hamlet they were not included in the contest.
