Gateway to Kananaskis

Sunwapta
Falls
Sunwapta is a Stoney native word for turbulent water.
The Sunwapta River makes an abrupt left turn near here gouging its
way through limestone rock as it makes its way to join the Athabaska
River. The Athabaska is much larger and has a falls that is one of
the largest in the Rockies. Again thundering turbulent waters roar
through narrow canyons. |
