Banded Peak596 viewsAs a co-founder of the Banded Peak Challenge, a fundraiser for Camp Horizon, I did all of the promotional work. I needed a photo of the mountain so as soon as the road opened, I headed out on a bright sunny day. I saw these mountain sheep, slamed on the brakes and caught them just as they were about to bolt.

Beaver pond599 viewsThis wetland lies just upstream from Elbow Falls. There is a short interpreted trail that runs through it. It is a pleasnt walk for those not interested in a more strenuous hike. This photo is taken from the Prairie Mountain trail

Elbow Falls763 viewsElbow Falls is a popular attraction for visitors to the Elbow Valley area of Kananaskis. Located along highway 66, 45 minutes west of Calgary, the Falls can be viewed from a scenic lookout point. Bring a lunch and use the picnic tables and fire pits to make it a very special family outing.

Elbow Falls660 viewsThe Elbow Falls day use area was upgraded in 2006. You can have a picnic and stroll the fully wheel chair accessible paved pathways. The falls are in the upper left of this image. This photo, taken from the trail leading to Prairie Mountain, shows the tight bends in the Elbow River as it approaches the falls. The river runs along highway 66 in the Elbow Valley district of Kananaskis. It flows through Bragg Creek and on to Calgary where it meets the Bow River.

Moose Mountain Fire Lookout671 viewsThe final ascent to the Fire Lookout station on top of Moose Mountain. The black spot in the middle of the frame is the station. From this vantage point on the extreme eastern edge of the Rockies, the warden can survey Calgary in the east and a panorama of peaks to the west.

Allen Bill and Forgetmenot Ponds are located in the Elbow Valley district of Kananaskis. This is Forgetmenot, part of the Little Elbow Recreation Area at the end of highway 66. Apparently there is a plaque in memory of a police officer
